Events
July has been a successful month for TEES. with some big events held. The Downunder Champs were held on the Gold Coast and a number of TEES athletes competed. The outstanding athlete of the weekend would have to be Hannah Schlecht who even though she was competing against girls one year older than her came 1st in the U14 100m, 2nd in the 200m and 1st in the 400m. Vandy Kanneh came 2nd in the U16 100m, Katelyn Savage came 2nd in the U16 javelin and Dylan Ryan came 3rd in the U16 200 m hurdles. Well done and keep up the good work!

The Queensland Primary School's Championships were held in Cairns and all TEES athletes who competed there came in the top 10, which was a very impressive result. Christabel Kingdon came 8th in the 11 year girl's race, Jacob Bragg 2nd in the 12 boy's, Daniel Rolley 4th in the 12 year boys and Kyle Noronha 5th in the 12 boy's race. In the 12 year girl's race Katrina Robinson came 1st and Samantha Whitting came 6th and is 1st reserve for the team. The top 5 placegetters will compete at Nationals in Adelaide next month, and they hope to be joined by other TEES runners in the Qld Heat team. If you wish to try out for this team, you must compete at the Qld Cross Country Champs to be held at Carseldine on the 4th August. Check the QA website for Selection criteria. Anyone born in 2000 or earlier can compete for this team, but younger people can still compete in their age championships. Good luck at Nationals. Primary School Cross Country Athletes left to right:Jacob, Katrina, Daniel, Christabel, Kyle, Samantha.
In Secondary School cross country held last weekend on the Sunshine coast, TEES had members competing in several age groups. It was a tough course and everyone worked hard. Well done to Luke, Jared, Rifaat, Conor and Callum. A few of the boys very nearly made the Queensland Schools' team and they will be competing next weekend to gain a place in the Queensland Athletics' Heat team.

What the papers say
Quest Newspapers were impressed with TEES athletes' performances in the Primary School Cross Country so they sent a reporter and photographer to meet with them last Friday. Â This was arranged before the Secondary School runners had competed. Watch out for a photo and article in the South-East Advertiser.

Athletics
Most schools have already had their track and field carnivals, and now many of you will be moving onto district and maybe regional competitions. If you want to practice at the clubgrounds, you can, as long as you don't get in the way of other groups training, or when a cricket game is in progress! If you are doing long jump, you may want to bring a rake along. The track is still not back in perfect shape after Crackerjack, but we are slowly getting it right again. If you want to email us your results, or about your efforts, please email admin@
Brisbane Marathon
Once again TEES has been invited to act as marshalls for this event. For those of you interested in watching distance running, this can be a great way of experiencing all levels of runners pushing themselves for such a long distance! It's wonderful to watch the top runners speed by, and to be there to encourage the slowest runners as they try and reach their goal of completing the race. It involves a very early start on Sunday 5th August. Breakfast is supplied, and sometimes a Marshalls shirt is given out. If you are interested in helping, please email admin@thompsonestateathletics.
Coaching
Welcome to Steve Barraclough and Mrs Pitt who have joined the TEES coaches.  More coaching will be starting at the club grounds soon. If you would like running, hurdles, jumps or throws training please email admin@thompsonestateathletics.
