Constitutional Motions to Annual General Meeting on Monday 22 March 2010.

Motion 1

Amend Clause 11.1

"The Management Committee of the association shall consist of the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary, the Treasurer, all of whom shall be ordinary or associate members of the association, and six (6) other ordinary or associate members as the members of the Association at the Annual General Meeting may from time to time elect.."

By adding the words:

"the Registrar", "a minimum of", "filling positions such as Uniform Convenor, Information Officer, Fund Raising Controller or any position deemed relevant by the Committee, reporting to the Committee at each monthly Committee meeting"

So the clause will now read

"The Management Committee of the association shall consist of the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary, the Treasurer, the Registrar, all of whom shall be ordinary or associate members of the association, and a minimum of six (6) other ordinary or associate members as the members of the Association at the Annual General Meeting may from time to time elect, filling positions such as Uniform Convenor, Information Officer, Fund Raising Controller or any position deemed relevant by the Committee, reporting to the Committee at each monthly Committee meeting.."

Motion 2

Add Clause 27.11

"Funds raised for the direct support of athletes, by way of appeal, donation, or work carried out by members, shall be held and distributed fairly amongst the athletes, at the discretion of the Committee. Athletes may appeal to the Committee for financial assistance to attend representative events sanctioned by Queensland Athletics. The distribution of such funds will depend on the athlete or legal guardian attending a predetermined number of fundraising events sanctioned by the Committee or representative Sub-Committee (Fund Raising). The Committee or Sub-Committee shall publish a predetermined number of events on an ongoing basis, to raise funds for financial assistance of the athletes within the association"

Comments on the above motions.

Motion 1

Members should be aware that Clause 21 of the Constitution states that the number of members required to constitute a quorum at a general meeting shall be double the number of members on the Management Committee plus one.

Motion 2

The decision to provide financial assistance remains with the committee. This clause is seeking to clarify the eligibility of athletes and the events that qualify for assistance.
