It is always encouraging to see great things from great athletes or up and coming athletes, and the Met East Regionals for both primary & secondary school was a sheer delight to be part of.

Thompson Estate Athletes dominated met east regionals in every possible way that a club can, in multi events, sprints, distance, jumps, throws, hurdles and steeples, in both junior and senior age groups  Such was the efforts put forth, records were broken and 98% of competing athletes from the club have all qualified through to States, which will commence in October.

This has been the largest team we have trained to produce such excellent results, all athletes attained more than what they expected in personal bests or national qualifiers and personal growth in them selves.

It is very rewarding to stand back and see our squad support each other in all aspects as a team should in both junior and senior age groups.  It is a token of what pulling together as a team can result in and also hard work put in over the off season and committment week in week out.

Perhaps other clubs alike can learn a thing or two from this, if we lead by example.

A big thank you must go out to the parents and athletes for your efforts in supporting your children, good sportsmen behaviour at the regional trials, it is great to see even when we are down in some aspects we as a team can still show sportsman like ethics.  Which I think lacks in a great deal of school sports in all aspects or sports in general.

If everyone can keep on building on what you're already doing now, be patient, committed and positive attitude, these will lead to great attributes to help succeed in your goals.

I also must mention another up and coming athlete, Yarnell Fisher in the squad who represented at Met North Regionals who also dominated sprints in 17yrs category, broke the 200m record 21.79sec, which not only gave him a national qualifier, but also now we are moving into world junior level qualifications as well.

The strength of the club is alight, we carry depth and now is the time to keep going to see how far we as a club can go with all of it's athletes for now and the future, but this can only happen if we as members, committee, parents and athletes get behind each other.
