Results
Some excellent results were achieved last month by members at the Australian Junior Nationals and Qld Little Athletics. Here are the medal winners that I have been made aware of. Those who didn't win medals achieved a great deal just by being eligible to compete at this level.
Australian Athletics Junior Championships
Michael Criticos 1st U17 javelin
Ewerton Almeida 3rd U16 100m
Vandy Kanneh 1st U15 100m, 3rd U15 200m
Nick Licastro 2nd U14 90m hurdles
Vandy and Ewerton also took part in the Men's U16 4X100 relay which won gold.
Queensland Little Athletics State Championships
Michael Criticos 2nd U17 shot put, 3rd U17 discus, 1st U17 Javelin
Hannah Schlecht 3rd U13 400
Daniel Rolley 1st U11 400, 1st U11 800, 1st U11 1500
Katrina Robinson 1st U11 800, 1st U11 1500
Well done to these athletes, and to all the others who competed and made the club proud of you.
AGM
The AGM was held last week, and any changes to the committee will be on the website soon. The position of Treasurer is still vacant, so if you think you can spare the time please consider taking on this role.
Athletics
Many primary schools have already had their Athletics Carnivals. This is 3 months earlier than usual because Nationals is to be held in September this year in Darwin. It means a busy time for some of these young athletes who have to train for both cross country and track and field at the same time.
CROSS COUNTRY
On the 9th April Thompson Estate will be hosting the QA cross country Pat Carroll Shield at Minnippi Parklands. It would be good to have as many TEES athletes take part as possible, as all participants get points for our club. Even if you do not usually take part in cross country it is a good event for general fitness, so all you sprinters come out for a jog around Minnippi Parklands! We will be needing helpers for the BBQ, marshaling and general support. Please email
