Home History War Ends
Chapter 5 - War Ends 1945 - 50

Following the cessation of World War 2, society quickly attempted to become as normal as possible as quickly as possible. Athletics competition was resumed in Brisbane, and the Harriers attempted to reform. However,

this was protracted process, as they were unable to raise a Committee to run the affairs of the club. During this time, however, individual athletes were permitted to compete for Thompson Estate Harriers, one such athlete being Don McNiven who won several State Championships even though the club had not officially reformed.

Eastern Suburbs Amateur Athletic Club had reformed and was active, and many athletes joined this club. After some negotiation, the two clubs decided to amalgamate to form Thompson Estate Eastern Suburbs Amateur Athletic Club.
