CROSS COUNTRY

The Cross Country season is now well underway and many of you will be having your district trials. Good luck. Queensland Athletics are holding their club relays on Saturday 14th May. If you are interested in competing in a team let me know and I will be in contact with you soon to let you know if I have found a team for you to run in. The club pays for the relay entry fees. This is an event where it is good to see our athletes helping others have a run, by sometimes running up an age group or the girls running in the boy's team if needed. Australia Masters Cross Country and Athletics Championships.

These were held last weekend in Brisbane. Thompson Estate hosted the Cross Country runs at Minnippi Parklands on Easter morning. Thank you to all those who turned up to help. The sun shone and it was a lovely morning. Photos of this event are on our website. Several of our runners competed over the weekend. Congratulations to Jason Collie who came first in both the 1500m and 3000m and 3rd in the 800m.  Well done also to Graeme Rowley who came 6th in the finals of the 200m and 100m.

Uniforms - hurry

Those of you who will be competing at Downunder in July will need to have your full club uniforms. These can be ordered online. The tracksuits must be ordered no later than Wednesday 1st June; these will have your name on the front and TEES on the back.

Crackerjack Carnival - June 3rd -Sunday 5th June.

Thompson Estate needs volunteers to help in four hour shifts. Athletes under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent when volunteering. Eddie is looking for 3 people to help him set up on the Friday. This is another good fundraiser for the club so please email Bernice at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or mobile 0408989641 if you can help, and leave you name and shift times.  The tent will be set up on May 15^th, so Coaches will be letting  athletes know about  changes in training locations.

Australian Athletics Championships in Melbourne

Congratulations to Tristra Moxham who recently competed at the Australian Athletics Championships in Melbourne and came 3rd in her category for 400m and 5th in the 200m. This may have entitled her to compete at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Vacant club positions

The club is still looking for a Treasurer, Fundraising Co-ordinator, Uniform officer and Trophy Officer, so if you feel you have the time and enthusiasm please volunteer for a position.
